Keegan May 2025_edited.jpg

Hi! I'm Keegan!

I'm an artist inspired by the small moments that often go unnoticed.

Whether I'm painting, creating digital (non-AI) artwork, or photographing the world around me, I'm drawn to the way light transforms the ordinary into something extraordinary. A leaf on a sidewalk, a curious dog, flowers on a windowsill, or the glow of sunrise over the ocean all become opportunities to slow down and appreciate the magic the light creates.

I hope my work encourages others to do the same.

My Approach
and Inspiration

I don't start with the question, "What should I make?"

Instead, I pay attention to moments that catch my eye—light filtering through trees, long afternoon shadows, reflections on water, or the expression on an animal's face. Those experiences become the starting point for paintings, photographs, and illustrations that are less about documenting a scene and more about capturing how it felt to be there.

I'm endlessly inspired by nature, changing seasons, coastal landscapes, gardens, everyday walks, and the animals that share our lives. Some of my favorite moments happen just before sunrise or sunset, when the light glows and familiar places suddenly feel new.

I believe there's beauty almost everywhere if we're willing to slow down enough to notice it.

My Process

Every piece begins with observation.

Sometimes it's a photograph that captures a fleeting moment of light.

Sometimes it's quick sketches, color studies, or simply an idea that won't leave me alone.

From there I build layers—experimenting with composition, color, and atmosphere until the finished piece captures not just what I saw, but what I experienced.

Outside the Studio

When I'm not creating, you'll usually find me exploring with a camera, spending time with my husband and pets (dogs and cats), wandering gardens, golfing, enjoying a good fire on the patio, cheering on my hockey teams, watching the sunrise at the beach, hunting for shark teeth, or looking for interesting light in everyday places.

I love how my passions constantly find their way back into my artwork.

Whether you're here because a painting caught your eye, a photograph reminded you of somewhere you've been, or you're simply curious about my work, I'm grateful you're here.

I hope my pieces help you slow down, notice something beautiful, and see the world a little differently.
